Converting Text to Text with Chords
Song-Bank provides a number of function to assist the user in converting plain text to text with chords. This is required so that Song-Bank can distinguish the chords from the lyrics. Song-Bank does this by inserting control characters (the '[' and ']' characters) to separate the chord from the lyrics.
If the chords are embedded within the lyrics, use the Chord | Promote Selection to Chord menu command.
1) Start by highlighting the text of the chord in the song.
2) Use the Chord | Promote Selection to Chord menu command. This will insert the control characters and the chord will be moved above the lyrics.
If the chords are on a separate line directly above the lyrics, use the Chord | Line to Chords menu command.
1) Start by clicking on the line with the chords.
2) Use the Chord | Line to Chords menu command. The chords will be positioned directly above the lyrics, but within the same line.
Chords can be adjusted left and right using the Chord | Move Left and Chord | Move Right menu commands or the Ctrl-Left or Ctrl-Right key combinations.
If a section of lyrics (the destimation) uses the same chords as another section (the source), then:
1) Highlight the source section.
2) Use the Copy Chords from Lines menu command to copy only the chords to the clipboard.
3) Place the cursor on the first line of the destination section.
4) Use the Insert Chords from Lines menu command to insert the chords stored in the clipboard into the destination lines.
Note: Please save your changes regularly. Once a file has been named, use the File | Save menu command to save it under the same name.
